Teens as Teachers

RootCom™ knows that the future lies within our young people and the unique On TRACK program works to optimize that potential. TRACK stands for Teens Realizing and Acquiring Computer Knowledge. RootCom is proud to provide the site and equipment for this vital, teen-operated program.

This program works on two levels. First, it teaches and prepares young people to succeed in today's computer-driven society. Kids usually aren't as intimidated by computers as adults. They're eager to try new things and as a result, learn computer techniques quickly. Once they're started, their imaginations often lead them to experiment and discover on their own.

But that's just the first part. Once they've mastered the techniques, the teens then become the teachers, sharing their new skills with others by leading weekly Internet Learning Courses. On TRACK teens lead the two-hour workshops, which introduce others to the basics of computer use and Internet browsing.

Since its inception, more than 150 young people have taken part in On TRACK. Learning sessions for adults are also available.
